Excellent performance of French musical group “The Spiritual Concert” directed by Hervé Niquet in the Cathedral of Varazdin marked the opening of the “45th Baroque Nights”.
The opening speech gave the Mayor of Varazdin Goran Habus, the Ambassador of France in Croatia Michelle Boccoz, the Minister of Culture Berislav Sipus and Mr. Jasen Mesic representing the President of Croatia. Mayor Habus recalled the early days of this event, which dates back to the 70’s. The “Baroque Nights” have since become a brand of the city of Varazdin. Minister, Mr. Sipus thanked France for this partnership since the event is organized as part of Festival of France in Croatia “Rendez-Vous”.
Mrs Boccoz stressed that it is an exceptional honor to be the partner of the City of Varazdin for this 45th edition. Varazdin Festival is an unavoidable cultural event in Europe and meeting point for the fans of baroque music. Mr. Jasen Mesic stressed the importance of “Baroque Nights” that nourish the Croatian cultural identity by simultaneously collaborating with other cultures.
