Opening of applications / International Training Week of Sites & Cités remarquables – September 2024

International Training Week of Sites & Cités remarquables

We are pleased to announce the opening of applications for the International Training Week of Sites & Cités Remarquables which will take place from 09th to 13th September 2024 in Rennes, in the Bretagne Region (simultaneous videoconference broadcast) on the theme “Improving the living environment”.

Organised in partnership with the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Culture and with the support of the City of Rennes, Rennes Metropole, the Bretagne Region and the Embassies of the partner countries, this training course is aimed at international project managers working in the fields of heritage, architecture, culture and tourism.

This meeting will focus on “Improving the living environment”. The enhancement and preservation of heritage and the quality of life in old town centres are major issues for many local authorities and associations.

Through indoor workshops presenting French and international experiences, and field visits, this week will propose a concrete and complete training to 20 project managers, French, English or Spanish speaking, on the following themes:

  • Tools for intervention in old town centres and the living environment: urban planning documents
  • Rehabilitation, reuse of heritage and citizen participation.
  • Tourism and living together.
  • Tourism strategy: the presence of water.
  • The cultural offer.

Since 2015, the International Training Week is organised and constitutes the annual meeting of project managers contributing to the protection and enhancement of heritage. It provides concrete training, contributes to the development of an international platform on the theme of heritage, and enables the exchange of know-how and experience developed by French and foreign local authorities. It contributes to the international influence of the participating territories and encourages the development of decentralised cooperation projects.

The 9 previous editions of the International Training Week have brought together, nearly 100 project managers and local decision-makers, from 30 different nationalities, 150 French participants and more than 30 member cities of Sites & Cités.
