The Best in Heritage 2022 Online Edition launch

Best in heritage 2022

As one of the most long-lasting and comprehensive conferences in the field of public memory institutions The Best in Heritage is proud to announce its 21st edition, which takes place online from late May to early October 2022.

Featuring video-interviews with representatives of more than 40 museum, heritage and conservation projects that have been awarded in the past year, the online edition will deliver an exhaustive overview of best practices from all over the globe, focusing on the criteria of professional excellence, public value, and innovation.

In the video-interviews acclaimed experts from the field provide insights into their accomplishments, give us an exclusive behind-the scenes look at their work, discuss important professional topics and offer valuable specialist advice.

The diverse line-up of featured projects spans from immersive AR, VR & XR experiences and tours, digital storytelling projects, online educational resources and documentaries, Covid response projects; to World’s first voice-activated museum, various community programmes, hands-on visitor experiences, archaeology, conservation & preservation projects, cross-continental collaborations; but also achievements tackling difficult topics: of the colonial times, immigration, history of mass repression, role of curators and historians in shaping how we perceive a multitude of truths, and perspectives of possible future.

Over the last two decades, the Best in Heritage conference has proved its simple idea of transferring the best, the most usable professional and civil society practice in curating and communicating cultural heritage. It is about building strong criteria of quality and turning our collective experience into wisdom.

With the vital help of main partner, the International Council of Museums, and its leading, global role in the professional sector, and through their long-standing partnership with Europa Nostra, the European Voice of Civil Society committed to Cultural Heritage, the conference carries on as a unique platform connecting the public memory sector.
